Shower Themes
Choosing a theme is one of the most fun aspects of
planning a baby shower. You can draw inspiration
for the baby shower theme from any number of
sources. Do you know how the parents plan to
decorate the nursery? If so, you could fit the
theme around that.
Some traditional baby shower
themes are teddy bears, bunnies, baby bottles or
booties. Often the invitations, decorations and
other party supplies will be pink for a baby girl or
blue for a baby boy. If this is not the first baby
for the Mom-to-be, you may want to consider a theme
that is a little more out of the ordinary. Perhaps
plan a garden themed party to celebrate a springtime
birth. How about hosting a Hollywood themed party
where the new mommy and all the guests get to feel
like stars for the day?
If the shower is going to be
coed, or if the Dad-to-be is going to be present all
or most of the time, you might want to go with a
theme that is a little less girly. Do the parents
have a favorite place to vacation, or did they take
a honeymoon they can’t stop talking about? Maybe
you could plan a Hawaiian luau or a Mexican fiesta.
You might be able to fit a theme around their
favorite interests. You could plan an under the sea
theme if they like to scuba dive, a nautical theme
if they enjoy boating, or perhaps an entertainment
shower if they enjoy movies and music.
Whatever theme you choose, you
can play it out with just subtle touches, or
incorporate it into all parts of the shower. It
should be fairly easy to find invitations and
decorations to fit just about any theme you can
dream up. You can take it a few steps further, by
planning the menu, games and favors to match the
shower. If you think the guests wouldn’t mind, you
could even invite the guests to bring gifts that fit
the shower theme.
