Twin
and Multiple Baby Gifts
If it seems like the incidence of twin and multiple
births is on the increase, it is. This can be
attributed to two factors. First, on average,
people are waiting longer to start their families,
and mothers over the age of thirty are more likely
to conceive twins or multiples. Second, because
women are waiting until later in life to try to
become pregnant, they are more likely to struggle
with infertility and to seek treatment to assist
with conception. Twin and multiple gestations are
more likely when conception is assisted with the use
of fertility drugs and techniques such as in vitro
fertilization.
Luckily, merchants have noticed
this demographic trend, so finding the perfect gift
for multiple babies is just as easy as giving a gift
for a single infant. There are gift baskets and
gift sets that are designed with twins in mind.
These sets come with either matching or coordinating
baby items, such as clothes, blankets, burp cloths
or toys. Another thoughtful gift would be a picture
frame with two or three names engraved on it.
Twins, especially identical twins, are going to face years of people confusing their names. You can help them establish their identities from the beginning by getting each baby a personalized baby blanket or bib. You could also get a personalized keepsake, such as a piggy bank or Christmas ornament, for each child.
Of course, you could always get matching or coordinating outfits for each baby.
If there are all boys or all girls, you could just get two or more of the same item, or you could get the item in shades of blue and pink if there is at least one of each. Another cute idea is to get the same item of clothing for each baby, but in coordinating gender-neutral colors, such as green, yellow, lavender, white or cream.
